Pelican crossing – Mr Turner said that he was trying to
assemble as much statistical evidence as possible and Clerk agreed to provide
the statistics on vehicle and pedestrian movements which the Council had
acquired over several years. Mr Turner supplied statistics of injury accidents
in the 30mph limit from January 1996 to May 2006, the last accident being in
2004. He said that councils should have been told much earlier about the change
of policy on funding of projects.

5. Correspondence
a.
OCC Waste Management Strategy – notice had been received of
a public consultation exercise on the future of waste management in
Oxfordshire.
b.
OCC meeting with towns and parishes will be held on 27 July
at the Guildhall, Abingdon. No one able to attend.
c.
Oxford Inspires, cultural development agency for
Oxfordshire, will hold a series of forums to get ideas for the 1000th
birthday of the County in 2007. No one able to attend.
6.
Financial
matters
a.
Risk assessment – it was agreed that Mrs Tremayne would
check the items owned and insured by the Council for any defects and report
back to the August meeting.
b.
Village Hall Broadband connection at a cost of £26.00 per
month proposed by Mrs Tremayne, seconded by Mr Boughton.
c.
Payment of £193.87 to Robinsons Garden Care for mowing
churchyard April/May proposed by Mr Stratton, seconded by Mrs Willis.
d.
Payment of £229.12 to Robinsons Garden Care for mowing
playing field April/May proposed by Mr Stratton, seconded by Mr Boughton.
e.
Payment of £1521.00 to SODC for Parish travel tokens
proposed by Mrs Willis, seconded by Mr Stratton.
7.
Open discussion
a.
Reports of overgrown vegetation obscuring signs were
reported – London Road, Milton Common, 30mph sign at bottom of Sandy Lane,
approaches to Tiddington village, slip road from A40 on to A418.
b.
Mr Field expressed concern about speeding vehicles in
c.
Mr Nowell-Smith reported that there was further vandalism
including farm gates being left open.
d.
Mr Stratton announced that the Village Fete will be held on
Sunday, 27 August.
